Kirstine and Darryn McKay came to the Highlands in 2011 looking for a place to raise both their family and a sustainable edible garden. The search stopped at a character-filled cottage called Greenlaw on 1.3 acres in Burradoo. Here, they proceeded to learn so much about edible gardens that Kirstine now designs them for others and manages some long term (she’s worked on Jane and Jimmy Barnes’ Berrima garden for two years). Kirstine McKay tells the story of how she and Darryn upped Greenlaw’s green credentials and created a garden that largely feeds a family of five.
